Toyota Land Cruiser 2F GM 100A Alternator Install

This was a brainstorm I had one afternoon and never finished the next day. Basically, I used a stock bracket on the 2F and mounted a second alternator to it. I think the bracket I used is for the power steering pump on a land cruiser, but my cruiser never had that option (the engine was out of a later model). Anyway, whatever the bracket was for, it works very well for a Delco alternator. I did not remove the old alternator, but I could have.

I used an old alternator top bracket I had laying around. You can buy these at most auto parts stores in their "high performance" section. My bracket was a little long, the alternator had to be at the minimum adjustment so it would clear the frame. I made a spacer to go on the bottom bracket; it ended up being 1.106” long. The belt was a Dayco part number 41017.

I never wired in the delco alternator, but I had it on the engine for several thousand miles with no problems.

If you know what this mystery bracket was originally for, please e-mail me so I can update this page.
